Thought-Changing Power: We will identify and challenge the underlying beliefs and assumptions that maintain OCD symptoms. By addressing these we can reduce the frequency and intensity of OCD thoughts and urges. This leads to long-lasting changes in thinking patterns, which can help prevent relapse of OCD symptoms. My aim will be to equip you with skills to manage your thoughts beyond the therapy sessions and long into the future.

Exposure and Response prevention is the most recommended and evidence-based treatment for OCD. Numerous studies have shown that it significantly reduces symptoms and improves quality of life for those with OCD. ERP targets the Root Cause: Breaking the cycle of obsessions and compulsions by exposing clients to their fears (exposure) and preventing the usual compulsive response. This helps us learn that our fears are unlikely to come true, reducing the need for compulsions.
Experience Long-lasting Results: Unlike some treatments that provide temporary relief, ERP aims for long-term results. By teaching clients new ways to respond to their fears, it can lead to lasting changes in behavior and thought patterns.

The techniques I use not only help clients reduce specific psychological suffering but are able to applied positively in life to build resiliance generally. This reduces liklihood of relapse and stands us in good stead for any challenges that may be ahead.

Metacognitive therapy (MCT) is a therapeutic approach focused on changing metacognitive beliefs that contribute to persistent worry, rumination, and fixation on attention. Developed from an information processing model by Wells and Gerald Matthews, MCT is backed by substantial scientific evidence from numerous studies.
The primary objectives of MCT include identifying clients' beliefs about their thoughts and the functioning of their minds (known as metacognitive beliefs), highlighting how these beliefs lead to unhelpful reactions to thoughts that inadvertently prolong or intensify symptoms, and ultimately offering alternative strategies for responding to thoughts to reduce symptoms.

Western psychology has often assumed that humans are naturally psychologically healthy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) takes a different view, suggesting that the psychological processes of a typical human mind can often be detrimental. At the heart of ACT is the belief that psychological distress typically stems from experiential avoidance and cognitive entanglement, leading to psychological inflexibility that hinders individuals from taking necessary actions in alignment with their core values.
