Burnout therapy for busy professionals
CBT helps professionals recover from burnout by changing the patterns that keep it going, such as perfectionism, overworking and difficulty saying no. I work online with people in finance, law and tech, in New Zealand and worldwide, and nothing goes through your employer.
Signs of burnout
You come back from leave and feel flat again within days
Work you used to care about now feels pointless or irritating
You're more cynical with colleagues, clients or family
Sleep, concentration and patience are wearing thin
Small tasks take far longer than they should
When long hours feel normal
In finance, law and tech, long hours are often treated as part of the job. If you're also living abroad, far from family, with a visa tied to your role and a bonus cycle that rewards pushing through, it can feel impossible to slow down.
How CBT helps
Understand what's driving the exhaustion, beyond workload alone
Loosen perfectionism and the need for approval
Practise saying no, setting limits and protecting recovery time
Look honestly at whether you're staying in a role out of choice or fear
Private and direct
Many clients prefer not to use their company's EAP. You book with me directly and no one at work needs to know.

Questions
Should I take time off?
Sometimes rest is essential, and sometimes the pattern comes straight back. We'll look at what you need.
Can I fit sessions around a demanding job?
Yes. Sessions can usually be arranged before work or at lunch in your time zone.
Is burnout the same as depression?
They overlap. If low mood is a big part of it, we'll talk about that too.
